UNN Honours Delta’s Director of Protocol, Chief Sunday Onoriode

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has once again honoured Chief Sunday Onoriode, the Delta State Director of Protocol, for his outstanding contributions to education in Nigeria.

Chief Onoriode, founder of Riode’s Education & Charity Foundation, received the award on Wednesday (9-7-25) during an event marking 60 years of Vocational and Technical Education at UNN and 10 years of its establishment as a faculty.

The award was presented to him by the faculty of the institution.



UNN’s Department of Vocational and Technical Education prides itself as first in Africa to offer a degree in the field. It also laid the foundation for similar programmes across tertiary institutions throughout the continent.


The award was given to individuals who have made meaningful contributions to educational development through scholarships, support initiatives, and promoting knowledge and learning opportunities.


Dr. Goodnews Agbogidi received the award on behalf of Chief Onoriode. He expressed gratitude to the university and reaffirmed Chief Onoriode’s unwavering commitment to advancing education not only in Delta State but across Nigeria.


In his remarks, delivered through Dr. Agbogidi, Chief Onoriode highlighted the strong focus of the Delta State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on enhancing educational development and providing opportunities through the MORE Agenda.


He emphasized that the Governor’s administration is dedicated to creating opportunities for young people by investing in education, providing scholarships, bursaries, subsidies, and various welfare initiatives.
