The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has once again honoured Chief Sunday Onoriode, the Delta State Director of Protocol, for his outstanding contributions to education in Nigeria. Chief Onoriode, founder of Riode’s Education & Charity Foundation, received the award on Wednesday (9-7-25) during an event marking 60 years of Vocational and Technical Education at UNN and 10 years of its establishment as a faculty. The award was presented to him by the faculty of the institution. UNN’s Department of Vocational and Technical Education prides itself as first in Africa to offer a degree in the field. I have watched with serious concern the unfolding political developments in Delta North and the implications they have for the political future of Anioma nation. As key political actors position themselves and jostle for supremacy in anticipation of the 2027 elections, the vile propaganda, blackmail, dissembling, and the pull-him-down syndrome for which Delta State has, sadly, become notorious, have come to the fore.
